Infrastructure development in India has always made front page news. It goes without saying that for a strong and prosperous nation, this is a prime area for national focus.

 

The mission of the Department of Civil Engineering at AIT is to work towards developing Engineers and Architects who can take on the thrilling opportunities in the proliferating building and construction industry.

 

The Department has a dedicated team of  staff members and excellent laboratory facilities. Many of the faculties has both good academic as well as project consultancy and construction experience. The Department strives hard to take up consultancy projects and conduct seminars and training programs in the emerging areas of remote sensing, GIS, GPS and other relevant areas.

 

Infrastructure

 

The Civil Engineering Department has a good number of laboratories that have modern machines and equipments. A list of the labs and the equipments they contain is given below.

 

Survey lab, Dumpy level, Levelling Staff, Vernier Theodolite, Tacheometer, Substense Bar, Tilting Level, Prismatic Compass, Surveyor Compass, Plane Table, GPS, Strength of Materials Lab, Universal Testing Machine, Compression Testing Machine, Impace Testing Machine, Hardness Testing Machine (Rockwell, BrinellA&c”ers), Torsion Testing Machine, Tensile Tester.

Faculty

The Civil Engineering Department has well-qualified and dedicated staff-members who are well motivated and oriented to attaining the mission of the Department. They focus on the practical inputs to the students with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Other Facilties

The Civil Engineering Department Library has an array of books and learning and reference material to keep both students and the faculty abreast of the current trends in the building and construction industry and its future needs.
